Grand Theft Auto released 2004 by Rockstar Games, its the third 3D game and fifth for the franchise. The Main character CJ returns to Liberty city to find his family and friends in disarray. On a quest to find out who murdered his mother and reestablish his gang whilst continuing with his business ventures the plot unravels. The game consists mainly of a third person shooter, whereby the character can drive, walk, run and jump, the player can apprehend any vehicle including helicopters, trains, tanks police cars etc. The environment open, non linear and vast allows much diversity and scope to manipulate it and the player the ability to play the game as they wish, and although there are missions which help the player progress through the game, they are not required. Due to this freedom the player can create havoc which generates unwanted attention from authorities such as the police resulting in hand to hand combat and your character being on the run, however the amount of attention given from the police will depend on the severity of the crimes, if minor the police will respond however the Military and FBI can get involved.

This game although focusing highly on interaction it also draws on the societal issues surrounding each country within present day such as capitalism and crime. There is a continuous increase in crime over the years, this game highlights and emphasises the things people want to do without reprecussions and consquences. However this game doesnt have what i need to relate enough to my game concept, and although the game itself is interesting and perhaps immersive it is not the type of game i wish to play continuously for the duration of this project.
