Working Title “Innocent”
“Having started the course with the notion of creating games aimed at both genders, with the intention of highlighting the stereotypical norms of the male and female forms, to demonstrate where society is heading with regard to this and how it is possibly changing societies ideal of beauty. Katie put pressure on herself to find a solution within a computer game, to make people aware of the idyllic pressures they place on themselves because of the media, however to find such a deep concept for a game could result in lack of fun and addiction, games are in fear of becoming consumed by conceptualisation, when all game players want is a fun, immersive game full of problem solving and action. We need to strip games back to their basic form and just have fun.
“Innocent” is a third person action, adventure game set within a shopping centre. The player takes the form of lead protagonist “Cordelia”, a young woman making her way through life as a shop assistant. Cordelia is polite and charming, always willing to help those around her, however one night whilst closing the shop, her life suddenly spins out of control, she lays witness to a brutal murder within the shopping centre and having been the only person caught on camera she becomes the hunted by the police. Determined to prove her innocence and claim her life back she stakes out the shopping centre in search for the killer.
Can Cordelia solve the clues to find the killer? Can she apprehend the person who stole her life? Will she get her life back before the police catch her, or before it’s too late?
